As always, Apple keynote began with numbers. Lots of sales figures and pat on the back for Apple. Tim Cook began with the post PC world and claiming Apple’s dominance with three blockbuster products, the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad. Of course, on the eve of the iPad 3 launch he had to share these numbers.
So here we go:
- Last year Apple sold over 100 million iOS devices. Any guesses on how many? 172 million is what Tim revealed!
- These 172 million iOS devies were 76% of Apple’s turnover
- Last time Tim spoke about the China Apple Store, this time it was the Amsterdam store, which takes the total count of Apple Stores to 362
- 315 million iOS devices sold till date. 62 million in Q4 (Oct – Dec) 2011 alone
- How could Tim leave out the App Store. The App Store is still buzzing. With 585,000 apps live. 200,000 for iPad.
- Apple revealed that iPad sold over 15 million units. Outselling the highest seller of PCs HP in Q4 2012
Interestingly it seems that Apple didn’t speak about iBooks and figures around downloads there. Also Apple completed 25 billion app downloads recently, guess they would wait for some billions in books as well. Again, no mention of music downloads either. Apple seems to be forgetting its slower horses 🙂
