Android and iOS have opened another set of possibilities for users to own an smartphone. Now, it has become more like a necessity for certain people. As per the recent report from Nielsen, 49.7% of mobile phone subscribers in US now owns a smartphone. Unlike other countries, in US, due to increase in number of smartphones available on contract, it has made possible for everyone to afford a smartphone.
It is a huge growth in comparison to last year where there were only 36% of mobile subscribers in US who owned a smartphone. These days, anyone who want to buy a mobile phone usually prefer to purchase a smartphone. As a result, the percentage has bumped up instantly. According to Nielsen, two-third of the mobile purchases in the last three months has been smartphones instead of featured phone from various vendors.
If we take a look at the percentage of people who own an Android or an iOS device, we would realize that no. of people who currently uses an Android device in US are 48%. Whereas, there are only 32.1% of the users who owns an Apple iPhone. And rest of the 11.6% of them are Blackberry users. Also, those who bought a smartphone in last three months were surveyed in February and 48% of them chose an Android over iOS. However, 43% of them purchased an iPhone only.
