The leaked beta version of iOS 6.0 revealed some interesting information regarding the next generation iPhone hardware and some software features of iOS 6.0 itself. The usual hardware upgrades are present but there are some pleasant surprise in store as well. Read on to find more.
The next generation iPhone will boast a new generation processor codenamed S5L8950X which might be an advanced version compared to S5L8940X on iPhone 4S and S5L8945X on the new iPad. The new processor rumored to be on iPhone 5 might most probably still be dual-core with ultra low voltage on 32nm chip. There is a good chance that Apple will still maintain a dual-core processor but with a quad-core graphics chip as in the case of the new iPad. The graphics chip rumored to be on the new processor has a code name SGX543RC which is a totally new version of graphics chip.
There is a mention of new kernel on iOS 6.0, Darwin Kernel 13.0.0 which is supposed to be a higher version than in the yet to be released MAC OS 10.8, Mountain Lion.
The speculation about new maps that iOS 6.0 will incorporate is building up as well. We have fresh news that Apple will be dumping Google Maps for good and incorporate its own maps in iOS 6.0. For now the rumors suggest a very beautiful interface with 3D navigation. But knowing Apple we would place our bets pretty high, we expect a highly intuitive UI for the new maps application.
We predict that the new iPhone will be launched in October 2012 and the new iOS 6.0 will be launched at WWDC ’12 which is just few days away. Expect a real good show down from Apple at WWDC.
