According to a survey by research firm Nielsen and media magazine Campaign Asia-Pacific which spanned across 12 markets in Asia, asked 4800 respondents to reveal their personal choice of most trustworthy company Apple ranked at No. 2 ousting Sony. Apple climbed 4 spots from last year’s No. 6.
The survey included other gaints like Panasonic, LG, Canon, Amul and Lenovo as well. Companies from the emerging markets of India and China struggled to make an impact in the survey. The best ranked companies being Amul ranked at 131 and Lenovo ranked at 133 from India and China respectively.
Apple was beaten by it’s main rival in mobile devices, the Korean giant Samsung which took the no. 1 spot up from no. 3 in 2011. The report says that Asian consumers showed a stronger preference for luxury retail brands, such as Louis Vuitton and Calvin Klein, this year. In China, compared to last year’s 8 local brands in the top ranking only 3 local brands were present this year showing more inclination towards global brands. The case for different in Japan where more loyalty towards local brands was shown.
