Apple may have announced its Quarterly results call for 24th July 2012 but Fortune published a report of estimated sales of iPad for the same quarter by gathering information from 57 different sources. The figures are mighty impressive, it might well be the highest number of iPad sales in a quarter till date for Apple.
Fortune says that their data from professionals suggest a lowest estimate of 12.68 million iPads given by Wedbush’s Scott Sutherland to a high of 18.5 million from Cowan’s Matthew Hoffman. The average estimate from this group is 15.07 million.
Among the independents is 19.88 million was the average prediction — 4.82 million (32%) higher than the professionals and more than double the 9.25 million sold in the same quarter last year. The low estimate in this group was 17.7 million from Alexis Cabot, a American ex-pat living in Rome, and the high was the 24 million submitted by Asymco’s Horace Dediu.
The more reliable data comes from the six most consistent sources which claim an average of 18.6 million iPads which still is might impressive showing a 101.2% increase over same quarter last year and almost 7 million more compared to last quarter of this year.
