While people might not have expected that a 2 year old smartphone from Apple would get iOS 6, it seems Apple is trying to extend no. of features which were earlier being restricted to iPhone 4 or later devices only. With iOS 6 Beta 3, Apple has included 2 more features into iPhone 3GS. These features are Shared Photo streams and VIP mailbox support which was not present in previous betas.
Macrumors noted that Apple’s iOS 6 preview page contained eight restrictions to iPhone 3GS. But surprisingly, these restrictions have come down to only six with the release of iOS 6 Beta 3. Since iPhone 3GS is still selling in the market on contract-free basis, Apple would want to make it more luring with the addition of these features. Needless to say, iPhone 3GS is still a great deal for the customers who want to buy an inexpensive smartphone from Apple.
We hope Apple would ultimately find a way to further reduce these restrictions to four or five. If you are a developer, you could download iOS 6 Beta 3 to your iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 4, iPad 2 and new iPad from the developer portal. And rest of the users need to wait for fall for the public release. Let’s know what do you think about these additions in the comment section.
