Apple’s latest generation smartphone, the iPhone 5 will finally go on sale in India starting November 2, 2012. Ingram Micro, a global IT Supply chain management company would be the wholesale distributor for the iPhone 5 in India. Pricing details though are yet to be officially announced.
According to a press release issued by Ingram Micro earlier today, the iPhone 5 would go on sale at leading modern trade stores and leading retail outlets across India beginning Friday, November 2. Apple’s India website though however is yet to be updated with any such information. However, we hope that will change in the next few days. The iPhone tab on the apple india website still talks about the iPhone 4S.
The much awaited iPhone 5 was unveiled by Apple back in September at a much publicized event. The iOS 6 laden device went on sale in the U.S and a few other countries shortly thereafter. India did not feature in the list of countries that were slated to get the iPhone 5. However, it looks like Apple has finally decided to bring the iPhone 5 to the country.
The iPhone 5 for the first time ever since the release of the first generation iPhone received a much needed screen size increase. The standard 3.5 inch display that had become synonymous with iPhones has now increased to 4 inches. The display resolution also saw a jump so that the high pixel per inch density experience continues on this edition of the iPhone as well.
If the iPhone 5 does get released on November 2, it will surely be priced above the Rs. 40,000 mark for the base version. Would you still want to be amongst the first to lay their hands on the new Jesus phone?
