Truth to be told, the rumours for an untethered JailBreak for iOS 6.0.1 are still floating around on the internet. As per the tweets from the iOS hackers, the situation is certainly improved and one could expect these rumours to turn into a reality. Nevertheless, for A4 device owners, the JailBreak for iOS 6.0.1 is available. Although this JailBreak is tethered, but not compelling enough for you to go ahead.
This is due to the fact that most of the tweaks are still incompatible and could cause your iDevice to crash springboard every time if anything wrong occurs. Therefore, it’s advisable to wait for few more days until the DevTeam come up with a proper solution. On the other hand, it’s pretty much known that the tethered JailBreak for A5+ devices (also called FailBreak) which is associated with a dev account exists, but not yet released publicly because of its dev dependency.
The evidence for the same has been given by @chpwn, @planetbeing and @musclenerd who seems to have found out a way to extend those tethered JailBreak using some other exploits to iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad 4,iPad mini and iPod touch 4/5 gen. If the solution for untethered and the dependency on dev account is figured out early, we could definitely expect the much awaited untethered JailBreak for all iDevices on iOS 6.0.1 soon. If it’s not feasible at the moment, we might need to wait until the next version of iOS 6.0.
It’s also been suspected that @p0sixninja, a member of Chronic DevTeam is back in the JailBreak scene and he could have something to contribute with other hackers. Anyways, we will definitely let you know whenever the fully functional untethered JailBreak for all iDevices on iOS 6.0.1 would be made available in near future. Till then, you can tether JailBreak A4 based device either by using Redsn0w (both Mac and windows) or Sn0wbreeze (only Windows).
