It was a question lingering on everyone’s mind. When would the latest generation iPhone – launched internationally back in September finally reach the world’s largest mobile phones market – China. Well, the query has been answered with Apple finally revealing that the iPhone 5 would land in China on December 14th. The iPhone 5 had just weeks ago gone on sale in India – another burgeoning mobile phones market.
What India doesn’t get though are the latest generation iPad models – including the iPad Mini which have been cleared for a pan China launch. In fact, according to Apple, the iPad models would in fact arrive in China before the iPhone 5 does.
Apple is yet to confirm the networks on which these devices would arrive. It is however likely that the new iDevices would make simultaneous debuts on both China Telecom and China Unicom – two of the largest carriers in that country.
Apple has also announced that users who want to confirm their orders can do so a day before the launch of the respective devices in the country. Pricing details of the products in China are yet to be revealed and we have no expectation from Apple to price them afford-ably.
The iPad Mini and the new fourth generation iPad are already available across 42 countries and by year end, are slated to encompass a few more. We certainly hope India too finds itself in that list.
