It’s been just over a month since Apple released the iPad Mini and talks are already on about the features the next edition of the mini tablet would sport. Taiwan based Digitimes is reporting the possibility of the next generation iPad Mini coming with a much higher resolution “Retina” display.
Digitimes claims that its source from the backlighting industry has told them that the next generation iPad Mini would indeed get a display resolution bump. What however is not clear is the kind of resolution that the iPad Mini display would sport. It is likely to match or even better the resolutions seen on the current crop of 7 plus inch tablets. There is a rumor however that the resolution might be same as that of the current iPad which would translate to a much higher pixel per inch density.
There is also a talk going on about Apple planning to modifying the 9.7-inch display of the existing iPad. The change would happen in the LED backlighting system wherein the existing dual light bars would be converted to single ones. This is an obvious effort to cut down the weight and to make the next generation iPad even slimmer.
All said, please do note that folks from over at DigiTmes have had a very iffy record when tt comes to reporting about rumors. They have been bang on the spot at times and have been way off the mark on many other occasions. For the same reason, we would advise you to take this bit of news with the traditional pinch of salt.
