Since JailBreaking or rooting has turned into reality on iOS devices, piracy has been growing side by side as well. Perhaps, not all the people JailBreak their devices to install applications illegally, but many of them surely does. And those who JailBreak their iOS devices to install tweaks and other third party apps which couldn’t make their way into App Store, buy these application entirely legally. One of the thing which has made piracy feasible in the past is a repository called ‘Hackulo.US’.
Today, all of a sudden, Hackulo.us repository stopped working and nobody has ever wondered they would be shutting down the site and repository instantly. Hackulo.Us not only allows you to install pirated application, but it also offers an application via Cydia called ‘Install0us‘ which was being developed to download and install cracked apps right into your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. Both of these things were distributed from Hackulo.us repository on JailBroken devices.
If you open Hackulo.us on your browser, you would see a message on the website which says that the site has been shut down because their forums and moderators were not active anymore. Hence, they had to take this decision despite of immense devotion of their staff. With this, even install0us has stopped working which means that users won’t be able to download cracked applications anymore. We know that this won’t completely restrict the piracy, but may be it’s one of the step that could lower it down to an extent.
In addition to it, a popular site ‘apptrackr’ which also distributes cracked application on the web is not working right now. However, the reason for it to be non functional could differ from the Hackulo.us shutdown. We don’t know the reason yet. What do you think? Is this the beginning of the end of piracy on iOS? Let’s know in the comment section below.
