Apple set up a dedicated part of its website to maintain transparency of its Labour and Human Rights Policies. One of the major pain points Apple is trying to solve is to make sure that none of its supply chains stress their works with overtime beyond Apple set standards. Apple tracks the number of workers working beyond the set limit of 60 hours per week and shows the details on its website. The only condition where a worker can work beyond 60 hours per week is when the worker volunteers for it.
The latest update shows that 99% of Apple’s supply chain workers comply to Apples work rules and this is an indication across various Apple’s supply chains and 100,000 workers
After experimenting various procedures to track excess work times Apple came up with an effective method to in 2012 to track all of its 100,000 workers across the world. Apart from this Apple is also making sure that no under-age workers exists across its supply chains. More information about its policies and actions taken can be found on Apple’s website over this link.
