Apple Maps was the talk of the town with the launch of iOS 6.0 when Apple officially ditched Google Maps in favour of its own mapping technology. Apple took over few mapping startups to come up with its own solution apart from tying up with services like Tom Tom and Waze but even after all the efforts Apple maps fell short of even being comparable to Google Maps when it was launched last summer but since then Apple Maps has come a long way. There have been multiple updates being done with Apple Maps including a major update for Japan like better pronunciation for turn-by-turn navigation, updated icons and labels amongst many other changes. Similarly Apple has made multiple changes to maps in China as well. Tim Cook’s promise of improving Apple maps rapidly seems to be actually happening without any major press updates about it. There was even a simple live user test has been reported last week in which Apple Maps won over Waze and even Google Maps!
