The Wall Street Journal reported that its sources close to the iPhone production confirmed that iPhone 5S, Apple next generation iPhone, will be produced this quarter itself for a possible summer launch of the iPhone which might be right at this year’s WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference) that might be scheduled for June 2013. Apart form that Apple is supposedly working with many manufacturing partners in Asia to work out its plans for the much rumoured low cost iPhone that might be launched in second half of the year, possibly in August 2013. The low cost iPhone will differ a bit in configuration and built material as per rumours.

Apple has been under severe market pressure since the last two years with the severe surge low low cost tablets and smartphones offered by various Android OEMs. Steve Jobs once used to trash the concept of a 7″ tablet saying it is just too small to achieve any work on it but Apple bent down to market demand and came out with its own version of a 7″ tablet, iPad Mini, that has been doing extremely well in the markets. Though the screen size might seem to be almost the same as the android counterparts, iPad Mini actually has lot more surface area than famous Android tablets like the Nexus 7.
Current market demand seems to be pretty strong for mid screen sized and low priced devices and there is every possibility that Apple might soon launch its low cost iPhone to capture market demand. When asked about Apple’s iPad mini dominating its own iPad sales itself, Tim Cook said that he was indeed happy about it, if Apple were not to capture that market segment some other company would do it and Apple will loose out on the opportunity. The same scenario holds good for low cost iPhone as well, if Apple is still hell bent on not catering that market segment then rival companies will take hold of the opportunity.
The iPhone 5S, which is rumoured to be just like the iPhone 5, will be sporting a faster processor, more ram, a better camera as rumours suggest. Apart from that, speculations are strong suggesting iPhone 5S to include a fingerprint reader for better security and payment integration apart from NFC.
