A month ago, back in February, there were reports looming in about the decline of Mobile Safari share and that the trend would continue to happen in the following months. But guess what? A recent statistic on NetMarketShare (reported by TheNextWeb) says that Apple’s Mobile Safari is back at 61.79% down from a previous 55.41% in February to increase its lead over other browsers again. Apple’s mobile safari is followed by Android’s default browser with a share of 21.86% down by almost 1% in a month. This seems to reassure about the usability of Apple’s iOS devices, even with a market share of mere 17% Apple’s mobile safari still is responsible for almost 62% of web traffic whereas Android with a market share of almost 70% is responsible for a mere 22% traffic.
NetMarketShare builds its data by monitoring over 40,000 websites that register over 160 million hits. The other browser witnessing significant change is Mobile Opera that has witnessed almost 50% gain with over 4% gain in marketshare. This shows why Apple is betting so much on expanding its iAd service that might be extended into browser based ads as well apart from ads on stand alone apps.
Future seems to be quite a lot more dependent on how well Apple or Google can churn out revenue from mobile users. Google’s main source of revenue currently is from paid ads and it seems that currently Google earns lot more from iOS ads than from Android ads as of now which shows how deeply Google is relying on Apple.
