The Apple Watch was recently handed over to reviewers and technology journalists by Apple for a week and the overall sentiment is positive with some shortcomings. Most of the reviewing fraternity agree that the Apple Watch is a device for the future whereas some have hailed it as an epic product. Overall the watch is deemed as sleek and stylish but not something you can’t do without. The Apple Watch is scheduled to arrive in US markets in this month and should hit Indian shores in June.
Coming down to the review, the positives to take out were that the Apple watch is good for glancing information and monitoring fitness. Reviewers also harped on about the ‘craftsmanship’ and the user experience on the Apple Watch. The not so good points about the Apple Watch are the poor battery life, laggy interface, half cooked apps and a difficult interface. The Apple Watch should not be likened to having an iPhone on your wrist.
The Apple Watch also received some disturbing reviews when it comes to productivity. Some reviewers were not impressed with the watch vibrating every 15 minutes during a business meeting. Others advised not to wear Apple Watch in bar. Some described it as distracting and time consuming. The Apple Watch uses Siri for accomplishing most of everyday tasks which can get unresponsive sometimes.
“If you can tolerate single-day battery life, half-baked apps and inevitable obsolescence, you can now wear the future on your wrist,” – One of the Reviewers
Overall, the widely echoed sentiment was that the Apple Watch is still a product far from being complete. The reviewers also expressed their feelings by saying that it is not necessary and adds very little value to your life.
