Amazon Lays A New Platform For Mobile App Developers

After making it’s name with its Kindle e-reader and Fire HD tablet, E-commerce giant Amazon now plans to give Google and Facebook a shot. The company recently announced that it is now launching a new advertising platform for mobile app developers.
Through this platform Amazon aims to promote applications that are present on the Amazon Appstore or the Google Play. Amazon’s spokeswoman Lyn Hart stated that they work with many developers that support merchandising and advertising across their platforms and devices. She said that they believed that many developers will benefit from it.

The ads by Amazon will appear on the Fire tablet’s wake screen. This is for those developers who have optimized their applications for the Fire Table and who are trying to acquire Fire tablet users.
The ads alongside will be displayed at other Amazon mobile properties just like the Amazon Mobile Ad Network. It will also be appeared within other Amazon applications like the IMDb. The developers are given the choice to either select the target users based on interests or Amazon, if they permit, can choose the users for them.
Over this, with ‘Enable Google Play Support’ customers will be given an option to download the Amazon Appstore. To get the application installed this option will lead them to the Google Play Store.
Amazon for now has made it available in the U.S. and will be visible if they meet certain guidelines. The ads should be approved for all the audiences in terms of the ads content. The other guideline is that the application has to be available in the English Language.
The service for this campaigns start at $100 as per the report. Amazon could not be reached for comments immediately.
A report earlier by Wal-Mart stores stated that they are now planning to test a new online shipping service for $50 per year. The report also stated that it is unlimited shipping and this move can hurt Amazon’s $99 Prime shipping service. This service by Wal-Mart is available only by invitation for now.
Amazon, a decade ago had launched Prime its $99-a-year shipping service. Since then Prime has become the cornerstone of Amazon’s growth. The company stated that the U.S. memberships for Prime has grown by 50% in the last year.
