Apple hinted earlier that the Apple Watch shipments had begun arriving at Apple Stores in the United States ahead of the launch of in-store availability. Speculations were confirmed when the in-store sales begun this morning.
Apple Stores are now offering the Apple Watch in-store after a reservation is made for an in-store pick-up online. When selecting a watch, there’s an option available which says “Interested in buying in-store?”. This link allows the buyers to check reservation availability of the watch.
Apple Watch supply has been limited since launch, but finally they are available at physical Apple retail store. The Apple Store website now supports online reservations of the Watch, allowing one to see if models are available in any stores nearby and if available, the staff will set it aside handing over to you when you can come in.
Phone number is required for making a reservation, it facilitates Apple to text a unique registration code which lets buyers 30 minutes to complete a reservation and schedule an in-store pick-up time.
Reservations begin everyday at 8:00 am. The unavailable models’ inventory will be updated by Apple on designated days and allows one to check stock levels.
Both 38mm and 42mm sizes are available in mixed quantities, a quick survey showed. The 38mm versions are available in greater quantities and some models, like the 42mm Space Black edition, aren’t available everywhere. Most versions of the Apple Watch available in stock in the big New York stores which indicates that allocations might be based on visitor population.
The Apple Watch now being available in-store in Australia indicates that all first wave launch countries will be seeing in-store sales starting around in each location.
Following the timeline provided by Apple, the reservation going online today fits perfectly with their scheduled availability. Earlier, Apple announced that in-store availability would begin about 2 weeks from June 4. So the timing seems perfectly fine.
