Samsung had introduced the first iteration of Galaxy Tab Active tablet in 2014 and today it has unveiled the Galaxy Tab Active 2 as its successor model. It is a business-centric tablet that features a ruggedized body and is one of the few tablets that comes with a user-replaceable battery. Also, it is equipped with a S-Pen stylus.
Design and Display
The Galaxy Tab Active 2 has a MIL-STD-810G grade body that can withstand extreme weather conditions and shocks. It is equipped with an anti-shock protective cover and the IP68 certification shields it from damage from dust and water.
It has an 8-inch TFT LCD display that carries support for 1,200 x 800 pixels. The display is usable with wet fingers and gloves. Also, the screen offers 480 nits of brightness. A fingerprint scanner is present below the display.

Performance and Variants
The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 is fueled by Exynos 7880 chipset that includes a 1.6 GHz octa-core processor. The SoC is coupled with 3 GB of RAM. The native storage available on the device is 16 GB. It also includes a microSD card. It includes a removable battery of 4,000mAh capacity.
The tablet comes in two models. The SM-T390 supports only Wi-Fi connectivity whereas the SM-T395 includes both Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity.
Camera and Other Features
An 8-megapixel camera resides on the back panel of the Galaxy Tab Active 2 whereas a 5-megapixel selfie snapper is present on the front. The tablet is preinstalled with Android 7.1 Nougat that is flavored with Samsung Experience UI. It also features Bixby Home and Voice.
The tablet is enabled with connectivity features such as Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, Wi-Fi and GPS. The gyroscope and geomagnetic sensors brings Augmented Reality capabilities on this tablet. It also features a S Pen stylus that can be placed on the dedicated compartment available on the protective cover of the tablet.
Pricing and Availability
The Galaxy Tab Active 2 will be available in only color option of Black. The LTE model will be available in Netherlands starting from 2nd November with a pricing of 500 euros (~$590).
