Foxconn the OEM for a lot of consumer electronics that we use has had its own share of trouble with employee suicides and working conditions. Afterall it employees over 300,000 people in just one of its factories. And this time there has been a explosion in one of the buildings (Building called A5, Plant location: Chengdu) where apprarently Apple’s iPad 2 were being manufactured. The casualty count when we last heard was 2 along with 16 injured workers.
Apple is a big customer for Foxconn and at the same time Foxconn is a very important partner for Apple. Foxconn is also rumored to be building a plant in Brazil, specially for Apple products. Naturally anything concerning Foxconn makes news w.r.t Apple easily. 
How bad the situation really is and what affect it would have on iPad 2’s supply is unknown, but we hope that thinge get back to normal soon. God bless the families of the ones affected. Apple has commented with not much details but has expressed its grief and is working with Foxconn to understand the cause of this ‘terrible event’. Stay tuned for more updates.
