As per reports from Sydney Morning Herald, Justice Annabelle Bennett of the Federal Court ruled today that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 indeed infringes atleast two of Apple’s patents related to multitouch and touch screen and hence issued a preliminary injunction barring the sale of the tablet officially in Australia.
Apple and Samsung have been locked in a legal battle since April early this and year. And apparently even the late Steve Jobs had personally made attempts to resolve the conflicts with Samsung which yielded no results. As the battle between the two giants increased in intensity, Samsung tried a lot of things including delaying the launch of the Galaxy tab in Australia and even attempting to launch a variant all of which failed to materialize.
Samsung was the first one to blink and tried to settle the dispute. But it seems that Apple and Samsung failed to reach any settlement off court and now that has translated in Apple wining the case and resulting in an injunction being imposed on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia.
The relations between the two firms have definitely soured with Samsung vowing to affect the sales of Apple iPhone 4S / iPhone 5 by filing lawsuits against them. Samsung has even resorted to some desperate attempts to get back at Apple which includes their recent makeshift store in Sydney near Apple’s selling their Galaxy SII for $2 in order to get people lining outside their stores.
