Off late Apple is getting in the news for all the wrong reasons. First it was the poor sales performance of the iPhone 4S in South Korea and then it was the self combustion of an iPhone 4 on an Australian flight.
Well the trend seems to be continuing, as now there are reports suggesting that there are some electrical problems with third party accessories from Mophie and BestBuy. These are the external battery cases for the iPhone 3GS and the iPod Touch which as it seems are facing over heating problems.
As per a report from the US Consumer Product Safety, there are about 44 issues of cases getting deformed due to heat and 110 cases of excessive heat generating from Mophie Juice Pack Air cases for the fourth generation iPod Touch.
And Mophie is already issuing a recall of over 6,000 Juice Pack Air cases for the iPhod Touch. There is no information whether they are facing the same issues for their iPhone cases as well.
BestBuy sells extended battery cases for the iPhone under the brand name of RocketFish and they have 14 reports of overheating while charging these cases. But the affected cases are for the iPhone 3G/3GS and not the iPhone 4/4S. Apparently BestBuy is issuing a recall of more than 30,000 such cases from across US and Canada.
