Apple intimated all it’s registered developers that in the coming few weeks a new category labeled “Food & Drinks” will be included in the App Store. Currently all apps related to this category are being published under “Lifestyle”. This might improve the visibility of Cookings apps further now.
Apple is contacting all the developers having apps which might be included in the new “Food & Drinks” category and intimating them that their apps will be automatically moved to the new category. The developers are given an option to opt of of this before July 8th 2012. According to Apple the new category will include apps that help users cook and bake, mix drinks, manage recipes, find new restaurants and bars, and learn what their friends like to eat and drink.
All this is a part of huge revamp Apple is expected to make to iTunes as well as rumored. Apple recently made changes to iOS app store as well ahead of iOS 6 launch with is expected to happen in coming weeks.
