Samsung Extends Its Lead With 100 Million Galaxy S Series Sales

Samsung has been on an absolute upswing when it comes to smartphone market. They are already the largest manufacturers of smartphones on the planet and one of the only two companies that make any profits. The other one of course being Apple, Samsung is compared to the success of the iPhone. If it was the iPhone that stole the show in 2007, it is the Samsung Galaxies since 2010. Samsung started its Android march with full force with the Galaxy S in May 2010. They sold roughly 20 million+ of those devices (a dual SIM version of the Galaxy S still sells In India). Samsung has since followed up with two more Galaxy devices, the Galaxy SII and the Galaxy SIII.

Samsung Galaxy SIII

Always featuring a high end processor, larger screen, HD camera and the most aggressive marketing push in the history of smartphone market. Samsung uses its manufacturing poweress to the full when it comes to pushing the Galaxy series. Result? Well it seems that the Galaxy has outdone the iPhone’s charm with 100 million units sold between the Galaxy S models since May 2010. The Galaxy SII and S3 both have sold over 40 million units each. No surprise, everyone now believes that the Samsung Galaxy series is the next big thing. Overtime the price of the Galaxy S3 has also come down to Rs 31,000 In India that gives a tough time to the new launches like the Nokia Lumia 920.

Bringing great success to Google’s Android OS, Samsung is the largest manufacturer of Android devies, while Sony, HTC, Motorola and LG struggle to make any meaningful profits. Samsung has also had the opportunity to make the Nexus phones for Google twice. A privilege that has now gone to LG, more due to rotation needs than merit.

With the Samsung Galaxy S4 due to launch sometime in 2013, the road for iPhone 5 could be tough!
