Soon after the Apple iPhone launched in 2007, Nokia announced its plans to make a similar device. And here we have some activity on this now. Nokia’s Touch phone project has been codenamed “Tube” and the device may launch as soon as Q2 2008.
Nokia has never been an outstanding success with touchscreen devices. Nokia 7710 and 6708 both aren’t that impressive, and by the time tube comes in, iPhone 2 will be here! Hope Nokia has something admirable coming up…
The image above from engadget mobile is believed to be taken during a slideshow at the Evans Data Developer Relations Conference in Redwood City, California. We aren’t sure which operating system Nokia would be running, we would be surprised if Symbian is able to adapt so soon to a full touch screen form factor. Apple has taken the Mac OS X to mobile with the iPhone, and that is one of their greatest USPs.
