We already know that Russia would get the iPhone 3G by october, but here is a interesting estimate. A Moscow based analyst Eldar Murtazin predicts that Apple would sell around 3.5 million iPhone 3G’s in Russia through tie-ups with 3 major telecom players int he country.

MTS alone targets a sale of 1 million iPhones in the next two years. Currently there is a huge grey market of unlcoked 1st Gen iPhones in Russia, which has become a status symbol.

Apple initially had a target to sell 10million iPhone’s in 2008. However seeing the popularity and sales of the new iPhone 3G, it is believed that the target would be achieved easily.
