Rumor: iPhone 4G already being tested in SFO

Preparing for the surge in 3GS sales during the holiday season is not all that Apple is doing, apparently there are reports of Apple testing the next generation iPhone 4G already in SFO. Last we heard about the 4G it was a LTE based haandset for Verizon. With increasing competition from Android and the maturing smartphone market which iPhone to extent has been a catalyst to, Apple sure needs to deliver a major hardware upgrade with the iPhone 4G.

We were pleasantly surprised when iPod touch with the camera was discussed, and iPhone did break hearts of many analysts and fans (not mine :)) with the iTouch 3G in sept. And we should shortly see big, bold claims and rumors about the iPhone 4G flow out in numbers. So while, we away the iTablet and a camera studded iPod touch; we would hope that the 4G iPhone gets some much needed specs.  The iPhone 4G midboard that we saw earlier now sounds a little more real though.

Leaving aside what would be the speculations and our wish list for the next-gen iPhone, this time Apple is busted testing this upcoming iPhone by app developer Pandav. The iBart app by Pandav helps you navigate public transports in San Francisco, and they have spotted an unknown iPhone model code “iPhone 3,1” using their service. Previously we have seen the ‘iPhone 1,1’ being the EDGE based 2G iPhone and the ‘iPhone 2,1’ being the 3G. While the 2,1 was a major update in the form of the 3GS. With another jump, in series with 3,1; we are surely promised a good hardware upgrade. Excited!
