Now thats not a new story, a rumor claiming that Apple is facing supply concerns. We hear them all the time and specially when the iPad was due for a launch. However Apple maintained that the iPad delays were due to high demand and not a manufacturing issue (well they did ship 2 million in 2 months). So what are we hearing this time around?
Well it seems that the claim is on the iPhone 4 supply concerns with short supply of Retina displays from LG expected. While seeing the demand for this thing (highest preorder ever) we sure know that Apple is having a tough time already, but is it that LG is unable to supply enough Retina displays to Apple? We heard that one of the reasons Apple ditched OLED technology was the limited supply, but is the Retina display also having same issues?
The Retina Display is one of the main attractions of the iPhone4 and it is claimed that the display is the single most costliest part in the new iPhone.
According to analyst Ashok Kumar (of Rodman & Renshaw Inc), the display supply concern from LG has cut down Apple’s capacity to ship iPhone 4 from 4 million units a month to 2 million a month. This would cause problems around September when the 3GS demand would dip drastically and the iPhone4 would be in 88 countries as announced.
