Using 1st Generation iPhone? Here is Your guide to iPhone 2.0!

iPhone 3G has stolen all the lime light from the original iPhone. The magical $199 pricing added with a worldwide release makes it deadly! Much to the annoyance of 1st Generation iPhone users; most new Apps are designed and dedicated to the iPhone 3G! A month back we had some suggestions for 1st Gen iPhone users; But if you are still using the iPhone 1st Generation, here are your options now:-

1) Stick to the good old 1.1.4 firmware with Installer for Applications – The good old 1.1.4 firmware has its own benefits. You have all the unofficial apps via Installer that gives you some of the most wanted features on the iPhone. Our favourites are ISMS, SMSD, WeTool, Game Roms, My Media , Video recorder, Snapture etc. Basically the 1.1.4 has brough many solutions like Sms forwaring easily. There are some good games and softwares that will do the trick for you.

2) Upgrade to Firmware V2.0 (2.x) and try out the offical AppStore! – The 2.x update is something not many 1.1.4 users including me enjoy. The iPhone feels slightly slow but fine. No -ve effect on battery performance noted (I am running 2.0.2) but the only good thing is the AppStore apps. We do have Cydia and Installer for unofficial apps, and they do give some useful ones. But the AppStore allows you all thos wonderfull free and paid applications that is OFFICIAL. They are secure, safe and stable. The Facebook app and some super games are our favourites so far. AppStore offers dedicated apps towards entertaiment (yeah tonnes of games), social networking, busness, productivity, photography etc.

Since the iPhone 3G has beaten iPhone 1st Gen in sales, there are hardly any updates to the softwares for iPhone 1.1.4. Sooner or later the firmware v 2.0 will conquer the scene. But for now we prefer the v1.1.4.

V2.0 is worth seeing, the best part is if you don’t like the 2.x firmware you can easily go back to 1.1.4 and chill…
