More signs of Apple bending Appstore rules?

Not too long ago we were seeing multiple reports of Apple’s stringent Appstore norms (for developers). Developers were miffed over the hard line that Apple had taken against Apps that duplicated any of their default functionalities.

But much to our surprise after allowing 3rd party browsers onto the AppStore, Apple has now allowed a Podcaster-like iPhone app onto the Appstore. This RSSPlayer gets your podcasts via RSS.

RSSPlayer lets you attach an RSS feed to the app and scans the feed for audio files. The app downloads the audio files and makes them available for listening offline.  The AppStore has crossed 15000 apps and 500 million downloads, and it seems that Apple has now hit the 4th gear and is on a lookout  to extend its lead over the competition.
