Remember the iPhone2,1 details that that firmware v2.2.1 had revealed? This gave rise to rumors suggesting a significant hardware update to the iPhone 3G. Apparently the 1st Gen iPhone is referred as iPhone1,1 ; iPhone 3G is referred as iPhone1,2. But these two new codes seen in iPhone OS 3.0 are referred as iPhone2,1 and iPhone3, o; suggesting two new iPhones.
Also, seen is iPod2,2 and iPod3,1 (current model is iPod2,1). The million dollar question for us is, Will
Apple release both new iPhones together? Or 2009 would see two separate announcements? {though the previous iPhone 2,1 could now be iPhone3,0 ; meaning both are one and the same device}.
Also, two entirely new terms seen in the firmware are iFPGA and iProd0,1. While iFPGA is a chip-industry term for a “field-programmable gate array” chip, that might be a custom chip for a new type of phone or tablet that could be programmed with software to tackle different tasks?
The iProdo can be the 10″ netbook? or some similar media device from Apple using the iFPGA chip. Multi-Core processor in Apple’s handhelds had been rumored since long. Whatever it means; we are certainly EXCITED!
