Last we heard from Apple during the OS 3.0 unveiling about 17million iPhone being sold worldwide (1st gen and 3G combined), and here comes the confirmation that Apple has now crossed the 20million mark with 21million iPhones sold. AT&T has also reported 1.6million more activations in Q2.
Apple has sold 793,000 iPhones between Jan-March i.e. Q2 in 81 countries. At the same time, Apple COO Tim Cook denied rumors of switching carriers, stating that they were very happy with AT&T (so that means AT&T gets extended till 2011).
Apples income in Q2 has risen to $1.2 billion compared to $1.05 billion last year. At the same time, AT&T has reported a 40% jump in Data revenues though their profits took a beating, a fall of 9%. 1.6 million iPhone 3Gs were activated in Q2 by AT&T with 40% of those being customers who switched over to AT&T from other networks. The iPhone partnership surely is giving AT&T a big boost in terms of new customers and data revenues.
