With the suspense on Palm Pre launch ending, iPhone 3.0 rumors are gaining momentum. Sources close to Apple suggest that Apple would launch the iPhone 3.0 on July 17th (announce on 8th June WWDC?) without any significant structural changes as reported recently.
- 32GB and 16GB versions. 8GB to be discontinued
- $199 and $299 price-points to be maintained
- 3.2 MP camera as rumored before
- Video recording & editing capabilities (iMovie?)
- Ability to send a picture & video via MMS (as per iPhone OS 3 and rumored)
- Discontinuation of the metal band surrounding the edge of the device
- OLED screen
- 1.5X The battery life (new technology?)
- Double the RAM and processing power (256MB and 600Mhz?)
- Built-in FM transmitter
- Apple logo on the back to light up
- Rubber-tread backing to replace the plastic back
- Sleeker design
- Built-in compass
- Revolutionary combination of the camera, GPS, compass, and Google maps to identify photo and inform about photo locations (Innovative Geotagging?)
- Turn by turn directions
This particular report mentions nothing about what the device would be named. But our guess is as good as yours.
Things that are missing in this list:
- Push Notifications / Background Processes
- HD Support
- Autofocus Camera / Video quality?
- Multi-core processor (but you never know what inside would make it double the existing iPhone processor)
- EVDO+Verizon
With tough competition and high expectations, lets see what Apple pulls out of its hat 😉
