Twist in the tale: Google claims Voice app was rejected by Apple

Shortly after the FCC probe in the Google Voice ban from the iTunes Appstore, all parties replied with their version of the story. While Google explained the GV app and kept the most part of its response confidential, Apple and AT&T claimed against any wrong doing. Apple actually claimed that the Google Voice has not been rejected, and they are still studying it (lol?).

However after persistent requests by many individuals and orgs, Google has released the full text of its response to FCC. This clearly states that Apple had communicated to Google about the Google Voice being BANNED for the good old reason ‘duplicating an existing iPhone functionality’!

Now this really makes in the situation tensed. While the matter was being discussed internally by FCC, Apple and Google things were off the media glare; there would be tones of reactions and talk in public. Apple is surely in a tough spot here. Though they have replied back restating that they have not rejected the Google Voice app, we sure haven’t seen the end of this.

Just recently Eric Schimdt (CEO, Google) resigned from the Apple Board of Directors as both the companies started stepping on each others foot on multiple fronts (Android / iPhone, Chrome OS / Mac …). Apple/Google have been under antitrust scanner for a while now and a recent report where there were claims that Apple and Google mutually decided not to poach each others employees is another big issue the authorities would be looking forward to.
