Apple getting serious about inhouse game development?

Steve Jobs made it clear during the iPod touch 3G launch that they see this platform from a gaming point of view (not that this was the first time we heard about the iTouch platforms gaming goodness from Apple). And it seems that Apple is gearing up to start in house app developments much with much more momentum going ahead. Rumors about a dedicated gaming console from Apple were also popular sometime back.

Sparking the rumors is a job posting by the Cupertino based company, looking for a passionate gamer who can handle the ‘interactive multimedia experiences’ on the iTouch platform. The candidates need to have shipped at least one AAA title (i.e. big budget commercial game) to qualify for the position.

Given that we heard rumors of Apple buying EA before, their interest in gaming is certainly not new found. With the amazing alternative revenue source that the iTunes app store proves to be, Apple would certainly love to have some killer apps owned by itself to make the most of the potential.
