Apple approves video recording app for iPhone 2G & 3G (iVideoCamera)

Apple has approved the iVideoCamera app for the iPhone 2G and 3G. The application has been developed by Laan Labs. The iVideoCamera application would now allow the iPhone 3G as well as the iPhone 2G users to record video. The application now leaves little difference between the functioning of iPhone 2G/3G and the iPhone 3GS. This application also brings legit video recording which otherwise was not possible without jailbreaking.

The application sure has some other noteworthy limitations though. The application shoots video at just 3 frames per second which is ten times slower than the 30 frames per second video recording on the iPhone 3GS. The resolution is also limited to 160×213 as compared to the 640×480 video on the iPhone 3GS. Another important limitation is the one minute limit to the video recording time by this application.

It’s not all bad though. The application allows to upload videos to YouTube, Facebook and Vimeo from the phone. Twitter integration is expected soon. The developers are also working on increasing frame rate and resolution.

The application is now available from the iTunes store at 99 cents. Note: Cycorder via Cydia is a much better alternative if you iPhone is jailbroken!
