While we expect to see the iPhone OS 3.2 being rolled out in March i.e. once the iPad starts shipping, Apple has rolled out a mini update today to all iPhone / iPod touches with the Firmware version 3.1.3. Some issues fixed in the iPhone OS 3.1.3 are
- Better reporting of battery life for 3GS
- Issue with 3rd party apps not launching / crashing on launch
- Fixes a bug that may cause an app to crash using the Japanese Kana keyboard

Jailbreaking iPhone / iPod touch firmware version 3.1.3
Now if, you are one of those who needs to jailbreak / unlock your iPhone and iPod touch, then the v3.1.3 is tricky. Currently none of the tools viz. pwnage, redsn0w, blackra1n etc is compatible with the OS 3.1.3. Add to that they notification put up during the redsn0w 0.9.2 release that read:
Note that redsn0w 0.9 does use the USB exploit for iPhone 3GS and iPod 2G+3G running 3.1.2, but that exploit will be fixed in Apple’s next FW release.
So its wait and watch for now till we hear back from geohot / iphone dev team. Update on jailbreak here.
