Apple coming with its own Mobile Ad service? Admob competitor?

Back in January when Apple acquired Quattro it became clear as to what would be the next revenue stream for Apple. After creating the iTunes music and App Store successfully it seems that Apple is now pointing its guns towards Google’s domain and jumping into mobile advertising. Not too long back, Google acquired the largest mobile Ad network Admob (which incidentally is most popular amongst iPhone developers) and it was rumored that Apple had its eyes on Admob aswell.

Apple’s ‘iAD’ is expected to debut on April 7 which would serve as the most relevant and efficient platform for targeting Ads to mobile devices (I believe iPhone, iTouch and iPad would be the only ones). Given the strong contr0l that Apple has over the iPhone ecosystem, it can easily kill the competition from Admob or anyother network. The first step towards this direction was taken when Apple barred developers from targeting location based ads to iPhone users.
