Ditching flash completely and going with HTML5 on its iAd paltform, Apple has a task to get business from ad agencies. The iAd platform is expected to be housed in the next gen iPhone that would in all probability launch in June and Apple would immediately like to allow app developers to monetize using the platform. Given the short time in hand, Apple is already speaking to ad agencies to customize and sell ads using the iAd paltform.
As it seems an ad agency has ‘spilled the beans’ over Apples plans. In its blog entry, Hill Holliday has revealed what was discussed with its meeting with Apple for the iAd platform. On the pricing bit they revealed that it would be “what you would expect from a premier online property.” While all details about the iAd functioning is still not public, Hill Holliday has let out that initially Apple’s iAd team would make all the ads required (certainly Quattro helps here) and later release an iAd SDK!
iAd is another tentpole to Apple’s success with alternate revenue mechanisms which saw iTunes Music for iPod and App Store for iPhone / iPod touch.
