iPhone 4th Gen rumor: 24 million units in 2010, IPS display & more

The iPhone 4th gen is just a few weeks away from its launch (unless Apple has some surprise planned) and every one is eagerly awaiting Steve Jobs to go on stage with the latest alteration of the Jesus phone. So what if we have already seen what might actually be the Apple iPhone 4G, there are still a lot of details that we don’t know. Latest rumors from Digitimes claim that Foxconn is preparing as many as 24 million iPhone’s for 2010 and as many as 4.5 million of those would hit the markets in June itself (yeah crazy!). The iPhone 4G is said to have a IPS display (same as the iPad) with 960×640 resolution and the claim is of doubles RAM at 512MB.

Add to that the little scoop of custom Apple chip powering the device and chances of a CDMA iPhone coming out with Verizon, things look good for Apple. Given that Google IO later this week would unveil the Android v2.2 (FROYO), it would be interesting to see how it goes against the iPhone 4.0 (4G). Hoping for some cool gadget action in coming weeks.

To solve battery life issues, the new iPhone’s panel is 33% thinner than in previous iPhone versions to permit more space for larger battery modules – Digitimes
