Shortly after the iPad announcement I had mentioned about the advantages and placement of an iPad in comparison of a netbook. While most people agreed with atleast some parts of my lengthy analysis of the Apple iPad and its TG, here is a little bit of news that brings some data on the impact of iPads over the netbook market. Asustek has reduced the target shipment for its netbooks in Q3 and has failed to meet its guidance for Q2 shipments of EEE PCs. This has been so mainly due to the competition from the Apple iPad.
Because of decreased shipments of motherboards, notebooks and netbooks, Asustek’s financial performance for the second quarter declined on quarter. Asustek will continue to offer Eee PCs and will step into the tablet PC segment with its Eee Note and Eee Pad series, Jerry Shen, CEO Asus.
