iPad Finds Itself Being Used As Light Source For Photography

There are innumerable crazy things people have done with their idevices – but this one might just take the cake for being the weirdest. Photographer Jesse Rosten has used as many as nine iPads as a photography prop. No, his models didnt pose with iPads. Instead, the iPads – all nine of them were used as light source for the session. While using the backlighting of mobile phones (and now tablets) as a torch might be a very common thing to do, this might be the first time that a handheld device might have been used for professional photography.

Rosten used all nine iPads at full brightness and looking at the pictures – it doesn’t seem that bad. With each iPad costing $499, the total bill for just the lighting prop amounts to a cool $4491. But then what other lighting source allows you to browse the web?
