Unlike most other products and services from Apple which remain shrouded in mystery before their launch, the arrival of the Mac specific app store had for some reason been made public way before it’s arrival. On October 20, 2010, Steve Jobs, the man himself, had announced that the Mac specific app store would be around within the next 90 days. After complex calculations it was deduced that this would mean we would be seeing the first of the App Store some time around the mid January mark.
….. And by the looks of it, we’d be missing that prediction by quite some time. By a month in fact. Note that Steve Jobs told that the app store would arrive “within” one month. This could also mean that it could be here well before the period of 90 days ends. So what we have now here is a small rumor from folks over at AppleTell according to whom, we could well be seeing the Mac App Store before Christmas. They even have a launch date. December 13th to be precise – barely a week from now.
While there are no facts to corroborate these rumors, what we know is that Apple had just recently asked developers to submit their apps to the Mac App Store back on November 3rd. They had also released an update for developers to Mac OS X 10.6.6 which is required for the Mac App Store to “work”. So, could this mean, Apple is already done with the back end part of the Mac App Store launch? It won’t make any sense to delay it till January if that is the case, would it?
