iFixit posted the teardown of Smart Cover of iPad 2 which contains 31 magnets. These magnets have the ability to auto align themselves, wake the device from sleep when removed or sleep the device from wake up mode when applied. They also automatically clears the thumb impressions on the display when removed next time. No doubt that this is a wonderful part of engineering from Apple. The above screenshot shows that these magnets with so many features could be magnets of a refrigerator. The iPad when bought near to the refrigerator with a smart cover, both of them grasp the surface. However, Apple didn’t mention anything about it during the launch of the iPad 2.
