We know this is getting boring nowadays, but as they say, we gotta do what we gotta do. Anyway, the news is, for the umpteenth time, Samsung has filed a countersuit against Apple in Australia, where the latter had sued Samsung a few months ago for “slavishly” copying design and UI elements from their lineup of iOS products.
Cupertino has been fairly successful in reining in Samsung by forcing them to halt the sales of the Galaxy Tab 2 in Germany and by at least temporarily banning sales in the Netherlands following an injunction by a Dutch court. In Australia, Apple had sued Samsung even before the latter launched the Galaxy Tab 10 there.
With the hearing in that case scheduled for some time later this month, Samsung has decided to stall the launch of the device until the hearing was over. Going a step further, Samsung has now decided to countersue Apple. Like they did in other countries, Samsung claims that Apple has infringed upon seven of their patents related to wireless technology.
The suit also adds that the case filed against them alleging UI and design against them are invalid – although we are not sure what reasons Samsung has stated as the reasons for the invalidity. As of now, it seems Apple has had the upper hand in the battle so far – but we’re sure Samsung might be having something up their sleeves as well.
