There were always rumors that Apple would unveil an iPhone assistance. Fortunately, the day arrived yesterday when Apple demoed ‘Siri’, the rumored iPhone assistance which is capable of doing almost anything. Just press and hold the home button for a while and it will be activated automatically. Once activated, it will show you a message – ‘how may i help you’?. Now, you don’t need to write anything for ‘siri’ to make it work. Keep you mouth to a certain distance near speaker and dictate it anything.
This is not all. Wether it is about finding path between two places or discovering traffic, you can do right from the help of ‘siri’. Say if you want to set a reminder while doing exercise or gym, you can activate ‘siri’ by pressing and holding the headphone button and ask siri ‘can you set a reminder for me to study tomorrow at 7pm’. Within few minutes, siri will tell you that your reminder has been set up for tomorrow at 7pm and ask you to confirm it.
Due to fact that ‘Siri’ connects with Apple server after each dictation, it requires an internet connection 24/7. Otherwise, it will not able to understand you. It is a true iPhone assistance. You can even ask the name of it and expect ‘siri’ to answer your question. It is definitely a leap forward in terms of voice control. Right now, certain languages are supported and ‘siri’ is in beta. Through beta, we mean that many other languages will come in future.
‘Siri’ will exclusively be available only for iPhone 4S users. If you are an iPhone 4 user, don’t expect it to make its way on your device after iOS 5 update. Apple will seed iOS 5 final on October 12 using iTunes. However, rest of the updates will happen through OTAs. Are you excited to experience it?
