JP Morgan Revises Estimates, Expects More of iPhone and Less of iPad’s to Sell

Though predictions made by analysts hardly hold true they certainly give us an idea about the performance of a company. Mark Moskowitz, Analyst JP Morgan chase has readjusted his sales estimate for Apple products which includes the iPhone, iPad and the Mac for the fourth quarter.

Moskowitz has upped the expected sales of the iPhones from 25.3 million to 28 million. Though the iPhone 4S has received a record opening its sales performance of late has been marred by in countries like South Korea where it has been deemed as uncompetitive, mostly due to the lack of 4G LTE capabilities.

Coming to the iPad, Moskowitz has dropped his estimation from 13.3 million to 13 million. With the competition heating up from Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Barnes & Nobles Nook Color, it would be very interesting to see how the sales of the iPad’s are especially after Amazon and B&N have claimed record sales during Black Friday.

Moskowitz expects Apple to sell around 5.4 million Mac’s in the quarter. Now this is something very interesting. Apple is set to become the largest computer manufacturer in the world by pipping HP from the number one slot in 2012. Hence the performance of Mac in the fourth quarter is very crucial. Though let me add that Apple overtakes HP as top PC manufacturer only when you count tablets as PC’s as well.

Coming back to Moskowitz’s estimates, he has increased the revenue forecast from $37.36 billion to $38.69 billion for the fourth quarter.
