Apple’s acquisition of AuthenTec last year for $356 million might show some effect with iPhone 5S, apart from that Apple also signed a deal with Microlatch, an Australian company specialising in biometric security through NFC. These strong backing and reports from KGI security and China Times suggest strongly that Apple might implement biometric finger print security and NFC in their upcoming iPhone. There were recent rumours that Foxconn has already started manufacturing of iPhone 5S as both sport almost the same housing but it seems that there will be lots of changes under the hood from Apple.
Last September Apple’s senior vice president Phil Schiller wasn’t to assuring about the possibility of NFC in iPhone as Phil felt that NFC isn’t solving any major problem right now and the Passbook feature in iOS is solving problems better. Apple might implement device level security and app level security with the biometric sensor right into the home button.
A user might have to scan his finger to unlock the device or even enter passwords! This is one feature quite difficult to implement in rival devices without loosing usability because they are already loaded with button in the bottom of the device.
