iCloud Beats Dropbox and Amazon In Cloud Usage

In last quarterly earnings call, Apple reported that there are now around 250 million active iCloud users with almost 30% increase over previous quarter. So how do these numbers actually stack up against the competition? Strategy Analytics composed a research report by getting 2300 responses in the US to find which cloud service is the most used and popular. Sadly 55% of the users don’t use any cloud service but iTunes Match and iCloud together claim a surprising 27% which is almost 10% lead over second position, Dropbox. The other top players are Amazon Cloud Drive and Google Drive with almost all top players striving to push their cloud service along with content provision, Dropbox seems to be the only provider without any content provision.

Cloud Usage in US

Music seems to be the most used feature for cloud with almost 90% of the users on iCloud, Google Drive and Amazon Cloud storing music on their cloud storage. Engadget reports spotting this research data also showed one interesting bit of data, Apple’s iCloud is the only service which has more number of female users than male users and most of the users in all the cloud service platform are between 20-24 years showing that cloud service is more of an attraction for youngsters.
