Samsung Develops Fastest 60 GHz Wi-fi Technology

The smartphone industry giant, Samsung has developed Wi-Fi technology which will have 5 times more speed than the usual. The 60 Ghz Wi-fi technology will enable a 1 GB movie to be transferred in less than three seconds within devices. I will take more time to search that movie in my files, Samsung! While, uncompressed HD videos can be streamed easily from mobile devices and TV in real time without any delay.

Samsung has overcome this problem by making alterations to the design of the circuit and by leveraging millimeter-waves which previously were susceptible to path loss and had weak penetration properties resulting in poor signal. To support it, they are using the high performing modems and the best antennas. By doing so, Samsung’s new technology removesthe difference between theoretical and actual speeds, and the actual speed transmitted is more than 10 times faster than that of the prevailing 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi technologies.
“Samsung has successfully overcome the barriers to the commercialization” of the 60GHz Wi-fi technology, Kim Chang Yong, head of a Samsung R&D centre, said in the statement. “New and innovative changes await Samsung’s next-generation devices, while new possibilities have been opened up for the future development of Wi-fi.”
Samsung plans to initiate this technology by adding it to audio visual products and medical devices, as well as telecommunications equipment. Samsung also says, the technology will be “integral to developments relevant to the Samsung Smart Home and other initiatives related to the Internet of Things.”
In addition, Samsung also improvised the strength and the quality of signal by developing the worlds first micro beam-developing a control technology that optimizes the communications module. Samsung also developed the world’s first method which lets multiple devices to connect at the same time to a network. They have announced that it is investing $14.5 billion for building a new plant in South Korea. The decision is being taken in order to meet the increasing demands of semiconductor chips.
The launch of the 60 GHz Wi-Fi in the market is expected to be in early 2015.
